Can We Decide What is Real?

Those of you who know me well or have heard me speak, know that I am a firm believer in the fact we can make life what we want it to be. Some of us have learnt to take control, while others let colleagues, friends and family take control. Our thinking influences this…

Everything we experience does not have meaning until we process it in our minds. There have been many studies showing how different two individuals can perceive the same experience! In fact, police and crime interviewers know when they speak with witnesses to an event, there are never two stories exactly the same – no matter how many people they interview!

What this means is that we create our world… our reality. It solidifies when we think about events and put our own meaning to it. One of the most discussed posts I have written discusses our perception of reality and how we can control what is in our lives (you can find it here – “Does Reality Exist“).

I’d like to present to you another example of how an experience can have multiple realities – MAGIC.

One of the fascinating things about magic is that for the audience, the event defies logic, goes against all of our beliefs, and the truly talented magicians can make us experience complete dis-belief in the what we witness.

Ma Yan Yan initiates the experience by helping us relax into the reality of a ballet performance, only to turn it into something truly amazing. Yet, in her reality, with lots of practice and a complete understanding on slight of hand, attention direction and a whole myriad of other techniques, she has a completely different understanding of reality than us!

With that said, please enjoy the show. Remember that any experience you have does not have meaning until you provide it. We can find positive and beneficial elements to all experiences!

I appreciate you visiting, and trust you find information that assists you to be able to…
