Hmmm… What is my Dream? (Part 1)

Last “Thought For The Day” I mentioned that athletes competing in the Commonwealth Games have strived and achieved making their respective country’s teams because they had a desire, a dream… passion.

So, how do we get that? And can we get that in our everyday lives?

YOU BETCHYA !!!

Let’s start with something simple. A small exercise for you. I first completed this task when I was 16 years old in high school, and it was an eye opener, and it has definitely changed since then. But I now do it every two years or so and it hasn’t changed much in the last ten years… it just gets more refined.

Put a title at the top of a page “My Perfect Day” and start writing. Be as detailed as you can. What time do you wake up? Do you wake up with someone? Do you get dressed straight away or stay in your pj’s? What do you have for breakfast?

There are two rules (didn’t you know it!!)

Money is not an issue. If you need money for an activity during the day, consider that it is available to you. When in the future it occurs is not an issue. It could be your perfect day next month or in ten years time.

Keep writing until you end with the sentence “I fall asleep at xx:xx”.

Complete this task and I warn you… your life will change. Just thinking about this sets in motion an unconscious radar that looks out for ways of fulfilling your perfect day. This is called the “Reticular Activating System”. (Again, I’ll talk about this more in the future.) It’s similar to purchasing a car. I don’t know if you have experienced the phenomenon, but someone you know has. When you have made a decision to purchase a new vehicle, all of a sudden you notice that there are lots of cars just like the one you are about to buy already on the road. Previously, you’d hardly even noticed them.

This small exercise is a great first step in finding your dream. Create your perfect day and then read it a few times a week.

Please e-mail me with your experiences of this task. I love to hear how a specific activity can affect so many people in so many different ways.

That’s step one… have fun with it. Be creative and enjoy spending the time focusing on yourself. It’s not just life changing, it’s life creating!

Have an awesome few days and we’ll see you soon.

Until then, Live Your Ultimate Life
