I have been asked many times why, and how, I got into coaching. What is it that made me want to start a business in this industry?
It’s an interesting question, with a very simple answer.
During my childhood there were two things everyone knew about me.
In high school I was fascinated with watching people, seeing how they behaved, how they worked. I remember a time when I was in my local shopping centre and I watched a couple (early 20’s) looking at rings in a jeweler’s window. They were obviously in love and maybe even looking at engagement rings. Another couple walked up to them and they started talking. They obviously knew each other and were good friends.
If you imagine four points of a square with boy, girl, boy, girl – that’s how it began. Very quickly I noticed the boy of the second couple was standing closer to the girl of the first couple, and she appeared uncomfortable. So what did she do? She moved closer to her man. After some time, the girl was almost standing by herself because the second guy had moved so much to be closer to the first girl! She finally realised and moved closer to her guy which bunched everything up so the first guy moved away from the group, and now holding hands with his girl, she followed. Then… the process repeated.
It was so interesting to watch. On occasion the second girl even tried to get between her guy and the first girl! After about 20 minutes, the group had rotated a full circle! Ever since then, body language and the way we think has been at the forefront of my mind!
I started reading vivaciously – Anthony Robbins, Wayne Dwyer, Sigmund Freud… all the classics, and this led me to discover Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I studied these topics of psychology, attended many trainings and seminars and started studying Psychology at University (which I didn’t finish because I landed a high paying job as a software developer – technology is my second passion!)
After a number of years of supporting friends I decided I wanted to help more people, specifically around managing their thought processes.
Unless we learn differently, many of us cruise through live unconsciously, allowing days and years to pass without having intention or working towards building a life we want. I have hosted many seminars and workshops on taking control of our thinking otherwise we are simply ships at sea without a rudder being tossed and taken by the waves and current to a destination we have no say over.
Clear Cut Coaching was created to assist others in creating their own story – to learn that personal development is not about continuously adding new learnings, but also about removing prior learning that holds us back.
clearcutcoaching.com.au and our Facebook page provide lots of resources to support people with different needs; being productive, confident, committed, in control, managing anxiety, controlling fear, relationship building… in fact anything where we are creating a limiting reality because of the way we think.
Clear Cut Coaching and my story is about helping people manage their thinking so that they may…
