You are What You Believe

When I say to someone “You are what you believe” I get many, many varied responses. These include “I have no control over how others perceive me” and “Belief isn’t what is real… belief is my own opinion” along with many others. And guess what… they are all true!

We’ve covered this idea before, so for those of you who have been around for a while, we’ll elaborate on the topic further. If this is your first or second time here, enjoy this information because it will change the way you look at life.

The key to realise is that we experience our surroundings via our five senses – sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. These senses are distinctly your own. Once the information has arrived it needs to be processed. We take in about 2 billion bits of information each second, but we are unable to consciously process all of that. Instead humans have learnt to group things together into patterns, delete stuff that we deem unnecessary and to make things easier to understand we often distort information so that it fits into our current understanding.

After doing all this processing (read CHANGING) we then only work with about 2000 bits of information; a number quite a bit easier to digest.

THIS IS THE BIG POINT OF THIS STORY !!!! Our personal experience teaches us how to filter the information down to such a small number. Every person with their own unique experience then perceives reality in their own unique way. YOUR REALITY IS WHAT YOU BELIEVE IT TO BE – EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL!

A famous quote, that I am unable to find the author of, is “You do not see something as it is, you see something as you are”! This is one of those Universal truths!

By the time you have processed the information received for any experience, it has changed.

Let’s look at an example. There are two young people.

Firstly, imagine you are 15 years old, struggling with high school, depressed because every friend of yours has a girlfriend/boyfriend and you don’t and your home life isn’t the best because mum and dad are always fighting about money.

Then imagine you are again 15 years old, but are enjoying high school. You have many friends and play basketball and hockey. Your parents both work and are fairly affluent providing a nice home and have even agreed to match dollar for dollar on your first car. With this being the case you have a part time job and are saving as much as possible.

Imagine now that one of your friends says to you one day that he has got hold of some of the drug ecstasy from his older brother and that it’s going to be available at a party on Saturday night.

How does this experience differ for each teenager? Do you go to the party? If so, do you experiment with the drug? Do you go so that you can keep an eye on the health of your friends? Do you go in the hope that you may be able to get with someone because they’re out of it? Do you tell your parents that you are going or keep it secret? Do you go to the police and inform them about the drug dealing?

So many different paths to take. Now, forget the two teenagers we made up… if someone came up to you today and said they have some ecstasy and to come to a party, would you?

Understand that for every experience that occurs every second of every day there is an infinite number of paths based on decisions made after generalisations and deletions of 2 billion bits of information received from an individuals five senses.

What you believe to be true is the final step in this processing and in no way is a true representation of actual reality. It is a difficult concept to get a hold of, but please try to recognise two things.

Your reality is so different from any other persons on the planet, including your husband, wife or kids.

You can make your reality what you want it to be simply by processing the information received from your senses in the way that is best for you.

By reading and applying information from our website and many others as well as books and audio programs, you can make your life exactly what you want it to be.

You just need to make the decision to do so.

Take control and start believing whatever you want.

…and Live Your Ultimate Life!
